Training and Events
The DBE’s vision for education is ‘Transforming the lives of Children and Young people’ through our values of effective, distinctive, rooted and inclusive education. The only way we can do this is by effectively supporting and equipping the staff within schools who have direct contact with the approximately 24,000 children and young people across Leicester Diocese. The full programme can be found HERE along with our pupil experiences document which can be found HERE.
Our programme of training and events (along with our pupil experiences document) is designed to support schools in living out their theologically rooted Christian vision and to be communities of transformation. We aim to do this by providing support in the following ways:
- Vision and Values – why are they important, how to create, embed and maintain them to bring about change within your school and Church School induction training.
- Leadership – Encouraging leaders to stop, think and reflect on their leadership and change they would like to drive forward within school.
- Spirituality – How spirituality can be understood within your school, what language of expression can be used, how it can be embedded across the curriculum and how we can nurture spirituality within prayer and reflective spaces.
- Collective Worship – What is Collective Worship, planning and delivering CW, making CW more intercultural, what is spiritual flourishing and how this can be enabled within collective Worship
- Wellbeing – How to manage workload, stress and overwhelm as well as weekly reflection sessions and opportunities to go on a retreat day to Launde Abbey.
- Justice and responsibility – what is courageous advocacy and how to develop it, racial equity across the curriculum, making pupil responsibility groups meaningful and unconscious bias training.
- Religious Education – Primary and secondary development sessions, Understanding Christianity and training for ECTs and new RE leads.
- Governors and clergy – Monthly online briefings for any governors and training for Church representatives around building relationships with schools, spirituality and Collective Worship.
- SIAMS – SEF training, monitoring and evaluation, framework refresher and training for each individual inspection question.
