Foundation Governor Information
An Introduction to Governance
This recorded session is useful for new governors or governors who would like a refresher in what it means to be a governor. The training is focused on Christian distinctiveness and the role of a governor in upholding the Christian ethos of a Church school and the roles and responsibilities of a Church School governor. This includes how to monitor and evaluate strategically within a school and to increase confidence with what a visit to school might look like, including the type of questions that you could ask and the constructive challenge you can pose as a governor to school leaders.
Process & Forms for Nominations to the DBE
The procedure outlined below must be followed for new Foundation Governor appointments and for those who have already completed a term(s):
Deadlines for Returning Nomination Forms & References
The nomination form and the incumbent reference must be sent to OfficeDBE@LeicesterDBE.org to enable the appropriate sub-committee of the Board of Education to consider the nomination. The committee meets 3 times per year and there is no delegated authority.
Having a gap in a term of office or a vacancy on the Governing Body can be inconvenient and may cause difficulties that can easily be avoided. It is important therefore to ensure that applications are submitted in good time so that they can be processed and approved without leaving a gap. The following timescales are intended to clarify the timescales within which paperwork needs to be submitted and completed (i.e. with PCC approval, incumbent reference).
