Overview

I am Head of Religious Studies at Rawlins – A Church of England Academy. I have been working at Rawlins for (just under) 2 years. I lead at teaching RS across KS3 & 4, to eventually offer it at KS5. I also deliver RS (through the ASDAN Beliefs and Values course) to our Skills for Learning provision (a specialist provision for 10 pupils per year group – Y7-14). I am also part of a team leading the development of our Spiritual Reflection and Collective Worship across the school. I am leading a relatively new and growing department raising the profile of RS and the Christian ethos across the school.

Career Experience

I have taught and led RE across a variety of educational settings. I have previously been involved with writing and creating different curriculum plans across KS3 & KS4.Prior to joining Rawlins I was the lead academic teacher within a prison setting. Within my role at Rawlins I have been involved with delivering staff training and have been attending local RE Network Meetings and joining the NATRE Symposium-where we explored the effectiveness of our curriculums through debate, reflection and professional discussion.

Specialist Expertise

I have experience of delivering RE across a broad range of educational settings, allowing me to develop a skill of creating engaging and impactful RE lessons. I enjoy creating curriculum and assessment opportunities to allow students to progress both academically and personally. I am currently supporting the development and provision of Collective Worship and Spiritual Reflection-allowing me to engage and embed the Christian ethos to support future SIAMS inspections and overall school improvement.
